Instructor: Darcy Topper
Calling all serious recyclers. Yarn is spun thread used for weaving, knitting or sewing – right? Really, as far as weaving is concerned, yarn is anything that is skinny and long and can be inserted into a shed. This opens up a world of potential wefts. When you are also looking to reduce your home’s garbage output, this anything-is-yarn orientation puts lots of things in the realm of possible. We will look beyond weaving with rags, to using garden trimmings, plastic bags, paper catalogues, old socks and more.
Bring potential yarns or anything you have that is woven with non-traditional yarns and we can talk about what is possible. Darcy’s emphasis will be on things that are functional, as opposed to merely decorative, but you can bring in anything beautiful.
