March Mini 1 - WEAVING ON CARDBOARD LOOMS(FOR FUN OR TO TEACH CHILDREN TO WEAVE)

MINI #1

WEAVING ON CARDBOARD LOOMS (FOR FUN OR TO TEACH CHILDREN TO WEAVE)

SUSAN HALL

Participants will learn to warp and weave a bookmark on a cardboard loom and will be able to teach children to do so. Children around ages 7 and up as well as adults enjoy creating a fiber project. The class incorporates literature from multiple cultures, including traditions from Ghana, Guatemala, and the Navajo people. Lesson plans can be provided with interested participants.

Everyone will leave with a completed or mostly completed piece that can be a bookmark, a small hanging, a decorative piece, or whatever their imagination takes them to. The thickness of the weft they choose will determine whether they get it partially or completely finished, but they'll be welcome to take whatever materials they need to finish at home. Everyone will take home a cardboard loom and weaving needle.

All materials will be provided.

Materials: $5. Class size: 12
