ROC DAY CELEBRATION 2027, LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

We will celebrate Roc Day, also known as St. Distaff Day. Although thought of as a day for spinners, we will kick it up a notch and have fun with our weavers. We will have a fun morning with participants enjoying a bit of competition, prizes, and lots of laughing. Cheerleaders welcomed! Celebrating Rock Day! Weaving games with prizes!
 
Roc Day or St. Distaff's Day is a spinner's holiday frequently observed in our modern-day guilds. The Scottish author Robert Chambers's Book of Days, published in 1864, lists January 7th as St. Distaff's Day. For those who observed the day in medieval times, St. Distaff's Day, or Roc Day, signified the end of the holiday season and a return to work including spinning and other domestic tasks. 
 
What to bring: Yourself. Bring a long 6” big eye weaving needle and 5 yards carpet warp if you have them. If you do not have them, weaving needles and yarn will be available at the workshop. There will be cardboard weaving looms for each attendee to participate in the weaving challenges and take home.
