JANUARY 23 & 24, 2027 — ONLINE WORKSHOP (VIA ZOOM)
REVERSIBLE RAG RUGS
SARA BIXLER
Let's weave a Rag Rug that has two totally different sides. Prepare and warp your loom with a dark colored warp, and bring two contrasting cotton fabrics for two days of fun! Imagine bright floral prints for summer and warm autumn colors contrasting on the other side for the most versatile rug in your home as the seasons change. And just think of all the fun you'll have showing off your two-faced rug to other weaver friends and your guests.
During our time together we will discuss how the magic happens as a result of a unique tie-up and treadling order that allows the warp to stitch the different wefts to the top and bottom layers creating the reversible design. We will also examine how this technique can be applied to other two-faced fabrics such as placemats, upholstery fabric and fashion fabrics that have a woven lining.
This class requires a loom with at least 4 harnesses or greater. Students will receive prior to class, a suggested materials list including type of material and yardage requirements, as well as warping instructions 8 weeks in advance.
Cost: $175.00
Materials Fee: None
