Instructor: Penny LaCroix
Continuous strand weaving seems almost counter-intuitive to weavers who are accustomed to a fixed warp and a shuttled weft. How does it work? How can color patterns be achieved? On a shawl-sized triangle loom, it takes about 10 hours to complete a project. For the class, Penny has mini triangle looms, sized about for a doll, that can be woven in an hour. After learning (AHA!) how the looms work, participants will be able to design and weave their own mini shawl in class.
Mini looms will be provided for use in the class. The mini looms may be purchased from Penny after the class if desired. Sources will be provided for purchasing full-sized looms.
Attendees should bring:
9 yards of 3-5 different coordinating yarns from their stash
Scissors
Crochet hook, something medium sized.
Small tapestry beater or a wide toothed comb
Materials fee: Cost for mini looms is currently being determined for anyone who wants to buy one to bring home. (Penny must consult with the person who makes them for her, but it will probably cost about $30 for anyone wanting a mini loom.) There is no charge to use a loom during the class.
Materials fee: $5
Class size: 16 – must sign up about a month previous (April 16, 2026 or sooner) so Penny can secure enough looms for class.
