The 16th HGC Biennial Show “A Few of Our Favorite Weaves” was held at the River Street Gallery at Fairhaven Furniture in New Haven.

   The HGC Biennial Show for 2009 incorporated some exciting new developments.
The HGC will inaugurate the HGC Weavers of Merit Award, a point based system to honor weavers that have demonstrated outstanding craftsmanship in weaving as characterized by technical excellence, design, innovation and imagination. The establishment of this award encourages our members to showcase their pieces, sharing their creativity and stimulating the imagination. 

   And the winners were:

Best Use of Color $100  goes to Fran Curran for Color and Twill

Best Use of Twill $50 goes to Patricia Dorion for Funky Frost 

Best Work by a Novice Weaver $100 goes to Patricia Dorion for Funky Frost

Common Vision Award $100 goes to Terese Ridgeway for Rose Garden 

Excellence in Rep Weave Award $100 goes to K.C. Alexander for Shades of Wright 

Gloria Nevins Overshot Award $100 goes to Jackie Heller for Bittersweet Cocoa 

Hand Dyeing Award $50  goes to Gary L. Robison for Crackle Cushion #3

Hand Spun Award $50 goes to Jackie Heller for Bittersweet Cocoa 

Jo Parsons Surface Design Award $100 goes to Susan Cutlip for Irresistible

Most Artistic Design $100 goes to Lucienne Coifman for Shades of Red 

Outstanding Technical Merit $100 goes to K.C. Alexander for Dominos

Members Choice $100 goes to ???(The votes are still being counted..)
