Show and Exhibits

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC has an exhibit running through January 6, 2008 entitled Tapestry in the Baroque: Threads of Splendor. The show received rave reviews in The New York Times.


Woven Wearables and Accessories Exhibit
The Nashoba Valley Weavers Guild presents a weaving show at the Westford Museum.  The Nashoba Valley Guild  will showcase handwoven wearables and accessories such as jackets, dresses, vest, shawls, scarves and handbags. Each product is handwoven on a loom and hand made by the weaver.  The opening reception will be held on Sunday Jan 13th from 2-4pm.
The exhibit will be open on Sunday Jan 6th during the St. Distaff's Day.
Spinning Bee from 1-4pm and will run until Sunday Feb 17th

The Weavers' Guild of Rhode Island presents a Tribute to Bertha Gray Hayes (1878-1947), RI Weaver of miniature overshot designs. The exhibit includes woven designs, samplers and notebooks by Bertha Gray Hayes plus contemporary weavings inspired by Hayes. It will be held at the Courthouse Center for the Arts February 1 - 29, 2008 with an opening Sunday, February 3rd from 2:00 - 4:00pm. The Courthouse is located at 3481 Kingstown Road (Rt. 138), West Kingston RI. 401-782-1018. Courthouse hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10:00 - 4:00.

Convergence is an outstanding conference for everyone who loves and works in fiber. It is the biennial, international conference sponsored and organized by the Handweavers Guild of America, Inc. (HGA), and hosted by a committee of dedicated fiber enthusiasts. Convergence features special lectures, workshops and seminars, exhibits, tours, special events, and a commercial vendors hall full of fibers, fiber-related equipment and an artist market.
