Handweavers Guild of America: HGA is calling for submissions to the Small Expressions 2012 exhibit which will be held at the Long Beach Museum of Art in Long Beach California from May 12 - August 12, 2012. It will also be part of the Convergence exhibits. Submissions must be postmarked no later than February 1, 2012. Specific details can be found on the HGA website: www.weavespindye.org. Weftovers: Alert:::Due to the snowstorm, the January White sale and Francoise Kelz's silk sale will take place at the March meeting. Last year's January White Sale was very successful, so we'll be having an encore this year. Start thinking about all those dye projects you want to do! All white cones will be discounted 25% off our already low prices.
In addition, Francoise Kelz generously gave the Guild a sizable donation of silk yarn which we will sell for a reasonable price of $25/pound. Most is put-up on 2 ounce tubes or skeins priced at $3.00 each. So if you have always wanted to try weaving with silk, but couldn't bring yourself to pay retail, now is your chance.
In November, Weftovers netted an impressive $400.30 which was deposited into the Scholarship fund. Keep those donations coming so that we can continue to offer scholarships to our guild members.
If you have time and interest, please consider volunteering at the Weftovers tables. K.C. is at the church by 8:00 a.m., which is when she needs the most help. Voluneers are also helpful during the lunch hour and after, to help with break-down. Please email K.C. if you would like to volunteer.
Guild Library: At the January 2012 meeting, Area 1 is reminded to send volunteers to help in the morning and at lunch time.
If you have any ideas for new books for our library, please let us know and we will do our best to acquire them. Donations to the library are always welcome.
Please remember that the library is closed during the Open Workshop in the AM. Please be respectful of the speaker and wait until the library re-opens before you begin your browsing.
2011-2012 Membership Year: Interested in joining the guild? Membership forms available here on the web. Please join us at our January 21 State Guild meeting if interested. You do not have to be a member to attend a meeting. Membership is half price when joining after Jan 31.
